Ahuriri Skybridge House

Long and narrow, only 9 metres wide, this waterfront site has a north facing coastal promenade and a rear southern road frontage.  The main social spaces sit right at the front of the site making most of the sea views and coastal village vibe and are sandwiched between precast concrete boundary walls, providing an industrial flavour to the spaces.  The rear of the site houses a garage with bedroom suite sitting over, which is connected to the front building with an upper level skybridge that sails over the courtyard, separating these two parts of the house.  Early concept design was commenced with architect Steve McGavock before Citrus Studio took over and continued developing the design to its final built form.
